Everything is Just Dandy !!!

heyo!
well today we are in tarma, tommorow we take off for la merced, im way excited. Today we are going to some waterfall that is suposedly really cool so we are going there, ill be sure to take lots of pics. So ya we got here in tarma last night because we wouldnt have been able to travel today due to a strike in la oroya. but ya it like a little vacation for us. we dont go back to our area until thursday. So im definitely going to enjoy my time here in tarma.
well i wanna answer your questions first before i forget well ya i already payed for the package from grandma, but its ok it was only like 38 soles haha. and the candy was amazing yes i got my box finally! hahah it was like christmas all over again.
i also got the package from grandma and another package from you that said 1 of 3, so does that mean there are more coming?
yes as zone leader i get to choose what we do for pday, which is sooooo awesome! haha, we are gonna play lots of soccer and go lots of cool places.
the gringos in my zone are me, elder bean (AZ!), and elder madsen who is from utah, hes huge, apparently he played rugby for u of u.
so ya that should answer your questions. now a little about the people we are teaching. first off we were supposed to have a baptism saturday but there wasnt any water in all of la oroya this weekend, and its hard to baptize someone without water. but as soon as the strik is over and we get back from tarma shes gonna get baptized. also we have
2 brothers that are gonna get baptized the 11th. they are 11 and 12 years old and their mom is inactive. but they love going to church and are learning a bunch. really the work here in la oroya is harder, but its awesome. haha its like a new challenge. and the people here once they understand the gospel they almost always accept it. maybe they dont always wanna get baptized but the seed gets planted and i know that someday many of these people will come to christ.
well here be my letter to president
Hola presidente!

Hello President! All is well here in the Tarma Zone. many of the areas that are opening have found many people and up to now we have 10 baptims to date in the area, and i want you to know that we will accomplish what God expects of us . All is well in our area of Marcavalle  I'm a little disappointed, we would have had a baptism Saturday but there was no water anywhere in La Oroya. but she is going to be baptized this week. We have been helping many families in our area and the support of the members in the area is increasing much. I am very grateful for the time that I have here in Marcavalle and I will work my best. thanks for all your help and support the president.
well everything here in zone tarma is just dandy. we are working hard and having a great time. i love you guys and miss you all so much!
loved seeing all the pics. p.s. coleton better stay out of my clothes haha

Hollllaaaa !!!!

Holllllaaaaaa!
well everything is just swell here in la oroya! Hearing about the thermals was the best news of the day! its really cold here, haha but I'm getting used to it. Oh but ya you can tell alpine that i am definitely gonna go back to work there when i get home. I actually really miss that place and all my friends there, but its all good because I'm going back. only 15 months.

well the work here in la oroya (my area is called marcavalle) is great. theres alot of work here to do because there hasn't been missionaries here for like 8 months. but we are having alot of success. we have alot of people that we are pretty sure that are gonna get baptized. also we found a family that was really in need of our help. a month ago their son died, and they have been having alot of struggles with it. but we taught them about the plan of salvation and the promise that families really are forever and they have felt the spirit testify the truthfulness of this and they feel at peace with the fact that they'll get to see him soon. I have had alot of spiritual experiences these past couple weeks here in Marcavalle and I am excited to keep working here.

here's my letter to president
Buenos dias Presidente!

Good morning President! This has been a great week. We found quite a few people who want to be baptized. Elder Choqque and I are learning a lot on how we can help this area. Marcavalle, as a whole area needs much help with leadership and stuff and we are very excited to be able to help. The members here are excellent and very supportive. We are happy here in Marcavalle because we know that there is much to do and much that we will achieve. I'm slowly learning how to be the Zone Leader, and every day I know that I need this calling and that the Lord has called me to this work. Thanks for all your help President.
Elder Paolacci

I got your letter in the mail - thank you. Also i would have gotten that package you sent a couple weeks ago with Vanessa last pday but they sent it to Huanuco haha whoops. so ya its coming Saturday. But they are saying i have to pay for a package that came recently. i think it was from grandma. im fine with paying for it, i was just wondering why because I've never had to pay for one. idk maybe she sent it a different way.

haha i cant believe the kids are getting done with school already!
karleigh is gonna be a senior, coleton is gonna be in high school, and logan in middle school?! crazy. we are all growing up huh. I'm seriously flipping about turning 20. i don't believe it at all, I'm just gonna skip my birthday. you can do that right?

so ya i found maggie a husband here in Peru! haha our pension has a dog who is way awesome! his name is sultan. haha he is so cool, he goes with us to almost all of our appointments and when there are dogs that wanna mess with us he messes them up. haha its pretty awesome, hes like our little bodyguard, and our new best friend. I'll take a picture of him for Maggie. but ya a funny story happened with him this week.
he was sitting with outside when we were teaching a family and he started to chase their chickens (people just have their chickens chillin in there front yards here). it was pretty funny and we let him play with the chickens. when we finished the lesson we stood up and had no idea where he was, but we thought surely he just went back home. so we were walking down some stairs to where the pension lives and we see sultan on their roof eating something. as we got closer we saw feathers, and wouldn't you know, he caught one of their chickens and took it home. haha we thought it was funny. but now we have to buy them a new chicken. :(

so ya being a zone leader has its ups and its downs. first off the downs, Zone Leaders are responsible for everyone in the zone, so if someone screws up or isnt having success we have to take part responsibility for it , also we don't get much sleep because we are always calling people. But the ups are that we get to travel alot. last week we went to Tarma 3 times and tomorrow I'm going for their district meeting. also may 31st to June 1st we are gonna be in La Merced for a multi zone conference. so I'll finally get to see sheridan there! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited. Being a Zone Leader is a huge responsibility, but I can totally feel the Lords hand in my life. Like I said I have had so many amazing spiritual experiences since I have been here. It is awesome and it is what the Lord has called me to do so I will do it the best I can.

well folks that's all for this week! hopefully i get the packages this week!
love you guys! Keep praying - keep reading - keep being awesome !!!!

Transferred to La Oroya , Peru

WEEEEEEELLLLLLLL
I got transfered :(. I am now in a place called La Oroya. Its
REEAAAAALLLY cold. its really close to cerro de pasco so
im sure you could just imagine. My comp is Elder Choqque,
its pretty cool because hes elder capps dad. Hes really cool
and im 100 percent sure that we are gonna love it together.
Oh ya, the other news is that im now a zone leader!
Ahhhhh its crazy. i was sosurprised when they told me.
and i was kinda sad to leave elder parada and all the
members in huanuco. im pretty sure thats gonna be my
strongest ward in the mission.
BUT the Lord has called me to serve here in la oroya and i know its gonna be amazing.
My zone is called Zone Tarma, the areas that are part of the zone are junin,
la oroya, and tarma. look them up. they are pretty crazy.
here be my letter to prez
Hola Presidente!
Translation -
Hello President. Well things are very different. Receiving the change that I am zone leader was a surprise that I would have never expected. But I know that, that is what the Lord wants. I know that I will learn a lot as a zone leader, and I thank the Lord for this opportunity. I know that I still have a lot to learn, but elder Choque is excellent and he helps me a lot. Our area of Marcavalle is a chosen place and we will be successful. I will also do my best to be an explample in this zone and I know that much will be achieved by us.
well now that im in one of the coldest areas in the mission i have a
couple things to ask. If you could go to alpine and ask alan or liette
if they have any thermals for cheap that you could buy and send to me.
just tell them that its insanely cold here.
haha so ya that pic of dad in the spiderman suit is hilarious! oh my
goodness, definitely gonna print that one off
well im glad to hear the chaufa turned out good. youre gonna have
to practice for when i get home! and that would be amazing to eat
cookies for my birthday! but if its a hassle dont worry about it
well this week he found some really good investigators. one is a
girl named ingrid. shes 11 years old and her parents are inactive.
BUT we are activating the family and ingrid is getting baptized the 28th.
we have also found a kid named denzel. hes 13 and he would get
baptized but hes scared of water. its been kinda hard because he
wants to do it but he just cant. i explained to him coletons story
about rainstorms and that he can overcome his fear. it was a really
cool moment for me because after i explained the story to him he
accepted our help to overcome his fear. i know he's gonna get
baptized before i leave this area.

well guys i just want to ask you to keep praying for me.
i love you all so much. you are awesome!
Keep reading the Book of Mormon
it is amazing and if you allow it to change your life it will !!!
write me!
Love
Elder Paolacci
ps tell coleton he cant go to the dances next month. he cant be 14 yet!

Mother's Day Call

We had a great phone call with Dylan on Sunday. What an amazing young man he is. We all really enjoyed talking to him and hearing his testimony in spanish. He loves Peru and he loves the people of Peru. Since we talked for an hour yesterday he sent home a few letters to his cousin and his best friends. Just by these letters you will feel the love that he has for everyone. A true messenger of Jesus Christ.

hey kel whats up?! ( for his cousin who just entered the mission field)
officially a missionary now! so cool. its crazy thinking that we both are out serving the lord now. and did you hear about grandma?! crazy huh. our family is gonna be the most blessed family in the world! haha so ya I'm doing great here. i love Peru and I'm sure you are loving south Carolina. i heard your comp is from AZ! that's way cool. you're gonna be an amazing missionary kel. just focus on trying to learn something everyday and developing your ability to tune into the spirit, because the truth is that its not us teaching, its the spirit.
and we need to be the most worthy possible to be able to help others feel that spirit because that is how they will really be converted. we don't have to be able to speak all fancy and stuff to convert people, we just need to invite the spirit. i have had so many experiences here when i can explain or speak exactly how i want in Spanish but the truth is that it doesn't matter because if we just bear our testimony and teach with charity the spirit will testify to those we teach. the truth is that the spirit makes our job easier, but we need to be worthy to have it with us. that means being obedient and always trying our hardest to learn the scriptures. like it says in 2 nephi “feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do”. Kelly the best tip i have for you is to become 100 percent familiar with the book of Mormon because that with the holy ghost is our strongest conversion tool. Kelly i love you so much and I'm so proud of you. work hard and have fun!
Love
Elder Paolacci

(for one of his best friends Elder matt Campbell)

what up bro!
so dude i heard youre killing it out there in new york. thats awesome.
i always knew you be an awesome missionary. my mom send me one of your emails and you sound like a future apostle, my competetive juices got pumping again, haha you know how i am. but ya man im loving it here in peru. its really an amazing place. the people here are so humble and its amazing to be able to work with them. its pretty amazing thinking of how im teaching descendants of the lamanites in the land where alma and all those homies taught. but i would have to say im pretty jealous that you get to serve in the area of the restoration. theres got to be some amazing spirit about that place. but ya man just wanted to shoot you a quick note and let you know to keep killing it. you are being a huge example for me and i love you man Love Elder Paolacci

BRROOOOOO!!!!! (for his other best friend Elder Coy Dahl)
Dude you got like 6 months left! haha crazy! its going way too fast.
hey i just wanted to write you and thank you for the great example you have been for me. throughout my whole life you have been an amazing example to me, you seriously have had an unfaltering testimony and been a huge support for me when mine was weak. eventhough i might not have showed it too much man i love you a ton and am so grateful to have able to be your friend. Just wanted to let you know to keep being an awesome missionary and keep loving the people.
Love
Elder Paolacci
