well heres my letter to presidente
buenos dias presidente!
Elder Paolacci
good morning President!
This week has been a great experience here in Marcavalle. we have indeed been quite successful. it is amazing how the Lord helps us when we work diligently. we have found many people who will be prepared for baptism in July. They would be ready to set a date now,  but they need to attend church more. but we know that this Sunday after many of them will be attending. We've also been working hard to help other areas around us. I've been checking in with them every night and it is really helping a lot. well here in the area Marcavalle tarma things are good and we are encouraged to work.

well im gonna answer your questions first - yes i got the 3 packages with the thermals. we are encouraged to only listen to hymns here, not really even motab, so dont worry about buring me any special ones.well we arent really sure what its gonna be like when the new president enters, all i know is that we have zl counsel 3 days after he gets here - so thats gonna be i can't believe it is time for president leyva to go. the truth is im gonna miss him, hes an amazing guy.
sultan (the dog) was sick the other day, usually hes like way happy and crazy when he sees us but this time he just walked up to us and let us pet him. BUT after we were walking away a dog started barking at us and sultan came running down the hill and messed him up. haha hes such a cool dog.
sooo ya thats awesome that logan made the all star team, i bet they will go to state, go pv east, o wait shadow mountain
i cant believe coleton went to efy, he cant be that old yet, and plus he never asked me permision to go so we are gonna have to have a little chat.

im actually really excited to hear about grandmas call, its gonna be way cool

well transfers are tommorow night, BUT im almost positive me and my comp are staying together, in fact there shouldnt be too many changes in our zone. im predicting and hoping that someone from my mtc group comes up to zl. but ya well see
so ya lifes great here in la oroya haha. the mission is going by way fast, but im loving it every single minute of it.
i love all you guys so much and keep being awesome!
love

Officially half way to 40 !!!

Wahhhhhhhhh
ahhh well im officially halfway to 40, is that a bad way to look at it? haha i seriously cannot believe im already 20. i would prefer not to be but heh what can i do. thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! i am gonna try my best to write a bunch of letters to everyone this week. oh ya about the whole mail thing, the strike is over so it should be safe to send stuff. if they kick us out they wont be doing it for another month or so. so ya its safe to send stuff.
so i guess ill start off with the zone leader conference we had. we traveled to lima monday afternoon, and got there monday night. that night i saw vizcarra, johns, and a bunch of elders i know, oh ya and fogleman with his dang aaron rodgers shirt haha. but ya we stayed up talking until 1 am, apparently thats not against the rules in the zl conference haha.
the next day we went to the temple with president and his wife, which was amazing. after the temple we had the zl counsel.
it was cool, we go over announcements, and rules and stuff that should be made or changed, and then president taught. He's an amazing teacher. dont be surprised if he gets called as a seventy after he gets released.
After the counsel i went on splits with the assistants. it went really well and we taught some pretty interesting people (we were in la molina, the richest part of peru haha). well after the splits we went back to the house and guess whati bought ????
PIZZZZZZAAAAAAAA hahah from papa johns, lets just say it was amazing. my first pizza in almost 5 months! haha i ate a whole xl pizza.
The next morning (Wednesday) we took off back to la oroya, and almost missed our bus. oh and ya i tried to go to manchay but it just didnt work out. maybe next time.
um so ya it was a good week here in la oroya. this weekend we had 3 baptisms, my first baptisms in like 2 months. it was way cool. in our time here in la oroya we have noticed that the branch is a little weak as far as orginization and stuff like that goes, but after the baptisms our respect grew so much for these people because we saw that they are some of the most loving and helpful people that we have met. it was pretty amazing
so ya heres my very short letter to presidente (since I was just with him most of the week)
Hello President!
Everything in Marcavalle this week was awesome. We had three baptisms this weekend and we found people who were looking for the gospel. Many have accepted baptism dates. It was indeed a very good week and we are happy for all the work we have been getting. We are going to have much success here in the following weeks in Marcavalle area. It has been a very good week and are very encouraged missionaries.

well today we are taking a trip back to that way sweet cave and we are gonna have more time to go deeper. its gonna be sweeetttt.
well i love you all and thank you so much for being so great to me.
ill try to have the best birthday i can. thanks again for all the bday wishes!

buenas dias a todos

wellllllll

buenas dias a todos
haha it was quite the week. first off we left last sunday after church for tarma and we stayed there until tuesday night. for pday monday we went to some waterfall where we had to pull off some gnarly adventure up a river just to get there. haha the funny part is that we couldnt get in the water so we had to jump from rock to rock or climb some boulders and stuff. it was pretty dang cool. after that we had some other stuff to do, like a maze, and a slide, haha i got videos. and we also played soccer afterwards on some terrible field they had. but it was fun.

well the next day we had district and zone meetings and after that we took off for LA MERCED! oh my goodness that place is amazing. haha i was thinking there is no way manchay and la merced are in the same mission. but for real there are so many trees there! it looks just like the movies when they go to jungles. but ya that night we had our last interviews with president Leyva. I'm going to miss him, he is an awesome mission president

after the interviews we were all hungry and went looking for some food (accepting the fact that none of us know anything about la merced). we found a restaurant that makes hamburgers so we tried it out. it was way good, the hamburgers were huge.

after that we headed back to the room of the zls in merced and gues who was waiting in the window! SHERIDAN! haha it was so cool to see him, hes doing great, hes a dl and hes finishing the training of his kid. i told him next change him and rider are going up to zl. that would be so cool to see them every month for meetings. so ya me and sheridan stayed up a while catching up. i told him he has the best luck going to two of the prettiest areas in the mission, juaja, and villa rica. where i have gone to manchay, huanuco (which isnt half bad), and la oroya (industrial town)haha. but it doesnt realy matter where we are cause the work is the same no matter where we go.
Elder Paolacci & Elder Shaeridan
This is the Victory shot during the conference. Re-united at last. Now we have to wait until we are in the same zone. THAT will be a blast.
(Elder Paolacci & Elder Sheridan spent the first 9 weeks training together. They were part of the fab five that all reported on the same day entered the field to serve in the Peru Lima East Mission together)
See them here in the begining
October 2010
The Fabulous Five
Five Amazing Young Missionaries Called to Serve the Lord

The next morning we had the multi zona conference. and guess what, i had to direct it. not gonna lie i was super nervous. also me and my comp had to give an hour long training. haha it was interesting but everything turned out great. thankful for the Lords hand in my life cause that got me through. It was an amazing day. after the conference we said our goodbyes and headed back to our areas.

but the adventure doesnt end there. when we got back the owner of our room said that we owed him like 700 soles for some reason, and if we didnt pay him we had to leave immediately. so guess what we did ? we packed our bags and took everything out of the room and we hit the dirt road. at this point it was late and we werent really sure what to do or where to go but we are always up for an adventure so we went to a members house and knocked on their door. we told them what happened and they let us sleep there for 2 nights until we found a room. finally on saturday we found a room and got moved in.

but wait, the adventure doesnt end there. yesterday was elections here in peru, so we couldnt leave the room the whole day. the winner of the election was a guy called ollanta humala some here in peru relate him to Hugo Chavez, hes kinda anti gringo so theres a possibilty that they will have all north americans leave the country. its not for sure but its very possible becuase that is what he has been saying he will do if he wins. and he won.

figured i would tell you because i didnt wanna email you one monday and say im in mexico or something.

but dont worry we are perfectly safe. all will be well becuase we are in the lords hands.

well thats the shortest i could sum up the week - happy bday coleton!
i got 1 of the thermal packages, the others didnt arrive because the mailmen are on strike.

oh ya heres my letter to presidente

Google translate - Good morning President! everything is fine here in Marcavalle. We are working very well and much success veniendo. was a bit difficult as baptisms because there was no water here in our chapel for almost 2 weeks. but our area and the area we will have many baptisms this month. I'm sure you know about the situation of our previous quarter. was a bit difficult because it removes almost all of our week. But we will overcome this challenge and we are going to achieve much here in the area Marcavalle and Tarma

well family i gotta go, we are taking off to lima in 1 hour for zone leader council. we are gonna be there until wednesday, and maybe, maybe ill get to go to manchay for a little bit. ill let you know how it goes. i am excited !!! i love you, the lord loves you and we are all going to be okay. keep the faith. keep being awesome.

Everything is Just Dandy !!!

heyo!
well today we are in tarma, tommorow we take off for la merced, im way excited. Today we are going to some waterfall that is suposedly really cool so we are going there, ill be sure to take lots of pics. So ya we got here in tarma last night because we wouldnt have been able to travel today due to a strike in la oroya. but ya it like a little vacation for us. we dont go back to our area until thursday. So im definitely going to enjoy my time here in tarma.
well i wanna answer your questions first before i forget well ya i already payed for the package from grandma, but its ok it was only like 38 soles haha. and the candy was amazing yes i got my box finally! hahah it was like christmas all over again.
i also got the package from grandma and another package from you that said 1 of 3, so does that mean there are more coming?
yes as zone leader i get to choose what we do for pday, which is sooooo awesome! haha, we are gonna play lots of soccer and go lots of cool places.
the gringos in my zone are me, elder bean (AZ!), and elder madsen who is from utah, hes huge, apparently he played rugby for u of u.
so ya that should answer your questions. now a little about the people we are teaching. first off we were supposed to have a baptism saturday but there wasnt any water in all of la oroya this weekend, and its hard to baptize someone without water. but as soon as the strik is over and we get back from tarma shes gonna get baptized. also we have
2 brothers that are gonna get baptized the 11th. they are 11 and 12 years old and their mom is inactive. but they love going to church and are learning a bunch. really the work here in la oroya is harder, but its awesome. haha its like a new challenge. and the people here once they understand the gospel they almost always accept it. maybe they dont always wanna get baptized but the seed gets planted and i know that someday many of these people will come to christ.
well here be my letter to president
Hola presidente!

Hello President! All is well here in the Tarma Zone. many of the areas that are opening have found many people and up to now we have 10 baptims to date in the area, and i want you to know that we will accomplish what God expects of us . All is well in our area of Marcavalle  I'm a little disappointed, we would have had a baptism Saturday but there was no water anywhere in La Oroya. but she is going to be baptized this week. We have been helping many families in our area and the support of the members in the area is increasing much. I am very grateful for the time that I have here in Marcavalle and I will work my best. thanks for all your help and support the president.
well everything here in zone tarma is just dandy. we are working hard and having a great time. i love you guys and miss you all so much!
loved seeing all the pics. p.s. coleton better stay out of my clothes haha

Hollllaaaa !!!!

Holllllaaaaaa!
well everything is just swell here in la oroya! Hearing about the thermals was the best news of the day! its really cold here, haha but I'm getting used to it. Oh but ya you can tell alpine that i am definitely gonna go back to work there when i get home. I actually really miss that place and all my friends there, but its all good because I'm going back. only 15 months.

well the work here in la oroya (my area is called marcavalle) is great. theres alot of work here to do because there hasn't been missionaries here for like 8 months. but we are having alot of success. we have alot of people that we are pretty sure that are gonna get baptized. also we found a family that was really in need of our help. a month ago their son died, and they have been having alot of struggles with it. but we taught them about the plan of salvation and the promise that families really are forever and they have felt the spirit testify the truthfulness of this and they feel at peace with the fact that they'll get to see him soon. I have had alot of spiritual experiences these past couple weeks here in Marcavalle and I am excited to keep working here.

here's my letter to president
Buenos dias Presidente!
Elder Paolacci

Google Translation -
Good morning President! This has been a great week. We found quite a few people who want to be baptized. Elder Choqque and I are learning a lot on how we can help this area. Marcavalle, as a whole area needs much help with leadership and stuff and we are very excited to be able to help. The members here are excellent and very supportive. We are happy here in Marcavalle because we know that there is much to do and much that we will achieve. I'm slowly learning how to be the Zone Leader, and every day I know that I need this calling and that the Lord has called me to this work. Thanks for all your help President.
Elder Paolacci

I got your letter in the mail - thank you. Also i would have gotten that package you sent a couple weeks ago with Vanessa last pday but they sent it to Huanuco haha whoops. so ya its coming Saturday. But they are saying i have to pay for a package that came recently. i think it was from grandma. im fine with paying for it, i was just wondering why because I've never had to pay for one. idk maybe she sent it a different way.

haha i cant believe the kids are getting done with school already!
karleigh is gonna be a senior, coleton is gonna be in high school, and logan in middle school?! crazy. we are all growing up huh. I'm seriously flipping about turning 20. i don't believe it at all, I'm just gonna skip my birthday. you can do that right?

so ya i found maggie a husband here in Peru! haha our pension has a dog who is way awesome! his name is sultan. haha he is so cool, he goes with us to almost all of our appointments and when there are dogs that wanna mess with us he messes them up. haha its pretty awesome, hes like our little bodyguard, and our new best friend. I'll take a picture of him for Maggie. but ya a funny story happened with him this week.
he was sitting with outside when we were teaching a family and he started to chase their chickens (people just have their chickens chillin in there front yards here). it was pretty funny and we let him play with the chickens. when we finished the lesson we stood up and had no idea where he was, but we thought surely he just went back home. so we were walking down some stairs to where the pension lives and we see sultan on their roof eating something. as we got closer we saw feathers, and wouldn't you know, he caught one of their chickens and took it home. haha we thought it was funny. but now we have to buy them a new chicken. :(

so ya being a zone leader has its ups and its downs. first off the downs, Zone Leaders are responsible for everyone in the zone, so if someone screws up or isnt having success we have to take part responsibility for it , also we don't get much sleep because we are always calling people. But the ups are that we get to travel alot. last week we went to Tarma 3 times and tomorrow I'm going for their district meeting. also may 31st to June 1st we are gonna be in La Merced for a multi zone conference. so I'll finally get to see sheridan there! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited. Being a Zone Leader is a huge responsibility, but I can totally feel the Lords hand in my life. Like I said I have had so many amazing spiritual experiences since I have been here. It is awesome and it is what the Lord has called me to do so I will do it the best I can.

well folks that's all for this week! hopefully i get the packages this week!
love you guys! Keep praying - keep reading - keep being awesome !!!!

Transferred to La Oroya , Peru

WEEEEEEELLLLLLLL
I got transfered :(. I am now in a place called La Oroya. Its
REEAAAAALLLY cold. its really close to cerro de pasco so
im sure you could just imagine. My comp is Elder Choqque,
its pretty cool because hes elder capps dad. Hes really cool
and im 100 percent sure that we are gonna love it together.
Oh ya, the other news is that im now a zone leader!
Ahhhhh its crazy. i was sosurprised when they told me.
and i was kinda sad to leave elder parada and all the
members in huanuco. im pretty sure thats gonna be my
strongest ward in the mission.
BUT the Lord has called me to serve here in la oroya and i know its gonna be amazing.
My zone is called Zone Tarma, the areas that are part of the zone are junin,
la oroya, and tarma. look them up. they are pretty crazy.
here be my letter to prez
Hola Presidente!
Translation -
Hello President. Well things are very different. Receiving the change that I am zone leader was a surprise that I would have never expected. But I know that, that is what the Lord wants. I know that I will learn a lot as a zone leader, and I thank the Lord for this opportunity. I know that I still have a lot to learn, but elder Choque is excellent and he helps me a lot. Our area of Marcavalle is a chosen place and we will be successful. I will also do my best to be an explample in this zone and I know that much will be achieved by us.
well now that im in one of the coldest areas in the mission i have a
couple things to ask. If you could go to alpine and ask alan or liette
if they have any thermals for cheap that you could buy and send to me.
just tell them that its insanely cold here.
haha so ya that pic of dad in the spiderman suit is hilarious! oh my
goodness, definitely gonna print that one off
well im glad to hear the chaufa turned out good. youre gonna have
to practice for when i get home! and that would be amazing to eat
cookies for my birthday! but if its a hassle dont worry about it
well this week he found some really good investigators. one is a
girl named ingrid. shes 11 years old and her parents are inactive.
BUT we are activating the family and ingrid is getting baptized the 28th.
we have also found a kid named denzel. hes 13 and he would get
baptized but hes scared of water. its been kinda hard because he
wants to do it but he just cant. i explained to him coletons story
about rainstorms and that he can overcome his fear. it was a really
cool moment for me because after i explained the story to him he
accepted our help to overcome his fear. i know he's gonna get
baptized before i leave this area.

well guys i just want to ask you to keep praying for me.
i love you all so much. you are awesome!
Keep reading the Book of Mormon
it is amazing and if you allow it to change your life it will !!!
write me!
Love
Elder Paolacci
ps tell coleton he cant go to the dances next month. he cant be 14 yet!
